The Institutional Review Board is charged with reviewing all research activities involving human subjects, in compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations, title 45, part 46
All research involving human participants must be submitted for review by the IRB, and must be approved before initiating any research activities.
By definition, research is “any systematic investigation, including research development, testing, and evaluation, designed to develop or contribute to generalizable knowledge.” (45 CRF 46.102d)
To ensure compliance with federal regulations, researchers must follow the Berry College [policy on human subjects research]. Those who fail to follow this policy may receive up to a one-year suspension of all research activities from the IRB.
More information for researchers and participants may be found by following the links. Any questions about Human Subjects Research may be directed to Laura Taylor, Director of Research and Sponsored Programs at lataylor@berry.edu
