Berry Student Media Receives National Awards

Berry College’s student media organizations received various awards at the recent College Broadcasters Incorporated and College Media Association events.

Multimedia website Viking Fusion received second place in both the "TV Station of the Year" and "Website of the Year" competitions. This marks the fifth time Viking Fusion has been awarded "TV Station of the Year."

The Campus Carrier newspaper received third place in "Weekly Newspaper of the Year." Valkyrie Magazine also finished third in "Feature Magazine of the Year." Both publications were finalists in their respective categories last year.

“We are very proud of our student media,” Communication Department Chair Curt Hersey said. “They work really hard to produce high-quality content, and not only are these projects winning awards, but they also become showcases for student portfolios to show to potential employers.”

The three organizations tallied 15 individual student Pinnacle Awards, including five first-place recognitions.

At the College Broadcasters Incorporated National Student Production Awards, two individuals won awards: Grant Stubbs won second place in the Best Audio Sports Reporting category for "Finding Community in Basketball.” Kaeden Boyd won third place in the Long Film Fiction category for “Wishcraft,” which also took first place in the Pinnacle Awards for Best Video Entertainment Program.
