What are some of the most unique or challenging academic opportunities at Berry?
Berry College has professional and pre-professional programs, including student-designed majors, double majors, independent study, internships and study abroad opportunities available for all students. The Office of Undergraduate Research supports upper level students from all disciplines and areas of study to apply for funding to support undergraduate research projects and creative activities.
Designed for highly academically qualified students, the Honors Program provides challenging coursework, special study abroad, leadership, service, and cultural opportunities just for Honors students, and the opportunity to conduct original scholarly or creative work through completion of an Honors thesis.
How many students are there in a typical core class?
Core classes generally range from 18 to 30 students per class. The average freshman and sophomore classes range from 20 to 25 students in a class. Junior and senior classes may range from fewer than 10 to 20 or 25.
Does Berry grant AP or IB credit to incoming freshmen?
Berry College grants credit to a student who presents minimum acceptable scores on one or more of the Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate Program examinations of the CEEB in the areas in which Berry has courses.
The Berry College policy for granting IB credit stipulates scores of 5, 6 or 7 on the Higher Level examinations.

What are the credentials of the faculty at Berry?
As of 2022-23, Berry has more than 160 full-time faculty members. 91% of Berry’s faculty have earned the PhD or highest degree available in their field. Over the past five years, our professors have published more than 400 scholarly articles and 40 books, and they have made over 1300 presentations at national conferences. Our favorite part: student-faculty interaction at Berry is ranked in the top 10% nationally.
What are some features of the academic facilities?
RESEARCH: Our state-of-the-art science building, including a brand-new animal science wing, is home to more than 20 research projects currently underway, many with a focus on sustainability — from short-term studies to a 20-year (and counting) longleaf pine restoration effort. Research isn’t just for the traditional sciences though – faculty and students in all disciplines, from humanities to psychology, education to exercise science, are actively conducting research projects on campus, in the local community and abroad.
FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS SPACES: Whether singing, dancing, acting, building sets, playing for the orchestra or giving a standing ovation, Berry students embrace the creative impulse, supported by 7 performance spaces, 14 practice rooms and 8 studio spaces across campus.
