The Latin American and Caribbean Studies program offers students the opportunity to build a strong base of knowledge about one of the world's most diverse regions. Drawing from expertise across several departments at the college, the LACS minor gives students and interdisciplinary context for exploring scholarly, professional, and personal interest in areas such as the history, language, culture, art, literature and politics of Latin America and the Caribbean.
LACS minors also study about Latin American and Caribbean cultures in the United States. Students may engage in directed studies, internships and study abroad opportunities that complement their more traditional coursework. Furthermore, the LACS program is committed to community engagement both at home and abroad.
Students earning the LACS minor are required to demonstrate intermediate-level proficiency in a non-English Latin American or Caribbean language.
