She received her Ed.D. from The University of Georgia in Exercise Science (Muscle Biology) in 1999. After graduation, she taught at the University of Wyoming and Kennesaw State University where she earned the Distinguished Scholarship Award for her research on exercise-related metabolic adaptations and muscle adaptation in young and older adults. Her recent research focuses on physical activity and health behavior in young and older populations. She has published in journals such as Sport Medicine, International Journal of Sport Medicine, American Journal of Health Behavior, and Drug and Alcohol Dependence. She currently teaches courses in Exercise Physiology, Training and Performance and Exercise Assessment and Prescription.
