Event Description Material (Photographs)
Meg Dreyer received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College, majoring in English and Art History, and attended medical school at Columbia University before choosing a career in art and design. In 2008 she completed her Master of Fine Arts degree in graphic design at Rhode Island School of Design, graduating with honors. Currently she maintains an independent design practice in Atlanta and teaches at Berry College.
“My work explores matter and its ability to communicate narratives. In its plasticity matter records the dings and dents of wear and use and the marks of time and experience. The lived experience is marked on its surface, hinting at past lives and previous incarnations we will never know but can only guess. In its disintegration I see character revealed, as underlying structure emerges. Even in the human form life events and experiences can be seen reflected outwardly, preserved in flesh to record personal histories. My work observes the impermanence of matter and its reminder to us of the fleetingness of time and the sweetness of existence.” |
